Heather Grout – Pilates Instructor
Meet the team

Heather Grout
Pilates instructor
My passion for exercise began at an early age. I started running at age 9 and didn’t stop until a serious fracture in my foot in 2012 required surgery, a long recovery, and led me to experience how one injury can ripple through the entire body. My personal journey to rehabilitate this injury and the cascade of movement patterns it disrupted led me to become passionate about corrective exercise methods, including Pilates. Pilates exercises helped me restore function, and I decided I wanted to help others experience the same benefits. I have since had the privilege of helping clients, from young adults to individuals in their fabulous 80s, use Pilates-based exercise to find ways to enjoy movement again.
I’m absolutely thrilled to be back in Edmonton, where my own journey began, and even more excited to bring my movement expertise to the wonderful team and clients at Renew Physiotherapy! I hold a Bachelor of Kinesiology from the University of Calgary and am a certified Corrective Exercise Specialist. Over the years, I have added certifications in personal training, concussion protocol, sports nutrition, health coaching & behaviour modification, yoga, yoga therapy, and STOTT Pilates.
HEATHER’S PHILOSOPHY
Movement has been a part of who I am for as long as I can remember, and for more than 25 years now, I have been passionate about helping others be more active as well; to move better, feel better and live their best life. I have also experienced firsthand that pain has a profound impact, not only on the body but also on emotional well-being and quality of life. This experience is why I believe so strongly that movement and exercise, including Pilates, are powerful medicine for both the body and the mind.
